JMA conducted paleontological mitigation of a 20-mile toll road through pre-construction surveys, pre-construction salvage, construction mitigation monitoring and salvage, curation of fossils. JMA also completed mitigation and documentation reports, including monthly and yearly progress reports and final reports. JMA developed mitigation monitoring measures through a Mitigation Monitoring Implementation Plan (MMIP) with definable, measurable implementation and compliance milestones and goals. JMA played a role in developing and finalizing the EIR for this controversial project.

JMA performed the project management and coordination, cultural and paleontological mitigation and monitoring services, monthly and final project reports, pre-construction paleontological surveys, pre-construction salvage, curation of fossils, mitigation and documentation reports, including monthly, yearly progress reports, final reports and mitigation quarrying operations for the 18 mile toll road. JMA developed mitigation monitoring measures through a Mitigation Monitoring Implementation Plan (MMIP) with definable measurable implementation and compliance milestones and goals.
WILLIAMS COMMUNICATIONS * CALIFORNIA FIBER OPTIC CABLE PROJECT
JMA prepared paleontological survey reports and mitigation plans to evaluate existing paleontological resources for fiber optic line installation. In the ES, JMA identified any adverse impacts which might have occurred as a result of grading related to project development, and outlined appropriate monitoring and mitigation measures. These paleontological services included literature searches, field reconnaissance, and survey final reports. JMA also provided paleontological mitigation monitoring for this project. This multi-year project has included over 2000 miles of fiber optic lines on 10 routes throughout the state of California. These projects included: Los Angeles To Anaheim, Los Angeles To Riverside, Pittsburg to Sacramento, Pt. Arena to Sacramento, Sacramento to Salt Lake City, San Diego to Riverside, Riverside to Phoenix, Bakersfield to San Louis Obispo, San Francisco to Santa Clara, and San Louis Obispo to Morro Bay. On a related project in Amboy JMA provided paleontological consulting services for an IXC Regenerator Overbuild Project.
AT&T * FIBER OPTIC CABLE UPGRADE PROJECT, SAN LUIS OBISPO TO LOS ANGELES VIA BAKERSFIELD
JMA prepared the paleontological survey report to evaluate existing paleontological resources and identify any adverse impacts which might occur as a result of grading during removal of copper cable and fiber optic line installation. JMA provided paleontological monitoring for the approximately 300 miles of alignment on this project over a wide area of Central/Southern California, from San Luis Obispo to Bakersfield and San Luis Obispo to Newhall, in San Luis Obispo, Kern and Los Angeles Counties, California.
TOSCO CORPORATION * MCKITTRICK OIL PIPELINE PROJECT
JMA Prepared the paleontological survey report to evaluate existing paleontological resources and identify any adverse impacts which might occur as a result of construction of a 15-mile oil pipeline. Work included mitigation monitoring during pipeline construction and excavation activity in the Elk Hills Oil Reserves, San Joaquin Valley, CA.
VAN DELL & ASSOCIATES * PORTOLA PARKWAY EXTENSION PROJECT
JMA performed cultural and paleontological construction mitigation monitoring services on this five mile long road alignment project. JMA also provided management and coordination; monthly and final project reports; pre-construction paleontological surveys and mitigation quarrying operations. This project involved test and salvage phases on eight recorded archaeological sites.
